Non-fiction Submissions
Heresy Press is inviting non-fiction submissions for the 2027-2028 publication window.
What we are looking for:
- Works specifically related to free speech issues, open debate, and heterodoxy
- Narrative non-fiction and biographies with a controversial, unusual, or daring slant
- Creative non-fiction that is surprising, heretical, and challenging
- Critical analyses of the publishing industry and nonconformist takes on today’s literary and artistic culture
What we are NOT looking for:
- Scholarly books on scientific topics that require a specialist reader
- Cook books, travel books, how-to manuals
- Books on politics and/or conspiracies
- Business and economics
- Health/wellness and self-help books
General requirements:
The writing has to be flawless, engaging, and elegant. The style must be lively and crisp, the pacing energetic, and the grammar (including punctuation) accurate. Diction must be precise and idiomatic and the structure clear and coherent. Consider engaging a professional proofreader, book editor, or story doctor before submitting your work. If a Heresy Press editor stumbles repeatedly over stylistic or grammatical blunders on the first few pages, the work will be rejected without further reading.
Time-frame:
We will take 6-12 months to decide whether to adopt a project or not (the only exception to this rule is content so urgently relevant to the current moment that it cries out for rush treatment). If you can’t wait that long, it’s best to submit your work elsewhere.
